To Learn, Be Humble

"Good and upright is the LORD     therefore he instructs sinners in his ways. He guides the humble in what is right     and teaches them his way. All the ways of the LORD are loving and faithful     for those who keep the demands of his covenant. For the sake of your name, O LORD,     forgive my iniquity, though it is great."  Psalm 25:8-11

True humility starts in knowing who you are before God's eyes. The Apostle Paul told Timothy, "Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners - of whom I am the worst" (1 Timothy 1:15). Notice that David does not say that God instructs the spiritual or good person. He says the humble person. I have been a teacher for over twenty-two years and have coached a lot of kids, and the only ones who don't learn are those that think they already know it all or for whatever reason don't believe that they need to learn anything.

God wants to guide you and teach you. He is loving and will faithfully deal with you if you humbly come to him for help.

Here's the to do's: Be humble. Stop and remember you are a sinner (we all are sinners). Look to God and the Bible to learn what is right. He will teach you.

Father, we humbly come to you to learn what is right and to walk in your ways. Teach us, O Lord. Praise be to you in us today.
