The Shield of Faith

"In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one." Ephesians 6:16 

Today I encourage you to by faith believe that God "exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him" (Hebrews 11:6b). Know that God is Sovereign over our lives and has unfailing love for us,  love that sent his one and only Son to die for us. Faith in his love for us shields us from the flaming arrows of the evil one.  The truth is that no matter how I feel God still sent his Son to die for me and Jesus is still at the right hand of the Father ever living to intercede on my behalf. That is good news. That is the truth. 

One of the design features of the Roman shield was that it was made to interlock with other shields to make a giant "tortoise shell" that would allow them to walk up to the enemies gate. You see, we are not meant to stand alone, but, together. Today I will go to a men's Bible study. One of the groups mottos is "As iron sharpens iron." We get together to, as men, strengthen ourselves to stand together in Christ. 

So, today I encourage you to remember that God is Sovereign over all that is in and around you life and he has unfailing love for you! Stand with others with your shield of faith.
