You Have Been Qualified!

You have to love the infomercial expression, "But, wait! There's more!" I have actually had to ban my youngest son from watching them because he wants us to buy all these "great deals". But, you know they always have that "But wait! There's more!" bait line. Paul gives us some of that but, it truly is useful and he paid the price!
"For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins." Colossians 1: 13-14
Here's what God provides. First, he rescues us from the dominion of darkness and in exchange has placed us into the kingdom of the Son he loves. When I think of darkness a few things come to mind; being alone and not being able to see. Blind and alone, that is the kingdom of darkness.

When we are taken out of darkness we are placed into the kingdom of the Son he loves. God makes us qualified for an inheritance in this kingdom (vs. 12)! From solitary to family. From doing things all alone to doing things with the family of God. From looking out for number one to looking out for the needs of others, because you KNOW that God is looking out for you.

But wait, there's more! As part of that inheritance you are given, just because you are a child of God, redemption. You owed a debt because of your sins that you could never pay. No one can. In Christ, God makes that payment. The forgiveness of your sins. Not just the sins before you knew Christ. Not just the sins since you have known Christ. Even the sins you will commit. All your sins. Christ died for all your sins! You are debt free from sin. I am debt free from my sins. Thank you, Lord Jesus!

So, that's the deal. You give your life to Christ. God takes you out of the kingdom of darkness and places you into the kingdom of the Son he loves, as a child of the kingdom. He forgives your sins, redeeming your life to live for him, building up the kingdom.

Father, thank you for making me you child and placing me into the kingdom of the Son you love. Praise be to you in us today!
