"All the saints send you greetings, especially those who belong to Caesar's household." Philippians 4:22
I am reminded that the Apostle Paul did not live in a free country but he lived under a most oppressive Roman empire. An empire that despised Christians and fed them to lions for entertainment. Yet, somehow in that world Paul found the freedom in Christ to preach the gospel of reconciliation to God in Christ to the known world. Not, even Caesar's household was exempt.
One thing the election showed is that we live in a country where "the middle" of America is liberal. Liberalism has never been kind to Christianity. Neither was the Roman empire or any communist country. Islamic believers are seeking to spread their beliefs the world over. The nation of Islam has been brutally opposed to Christianity.
Yet, God is still on the throne. His will will be done. He is still Sovereign.
Christians, be prepared to live as a light shining in the darkness. Our mission is eternal, it supersedes and transcends the current political movements. No matter what the current political winds may be, Jesus Christ is still the Truth. Jesus Christ was crucified for our sins and he rose from the dead and conquered death and sin. He sits at the right hand of the Father interceding on our behalf. He will come again to judge this world and take his people home. May we be used as lights shining in the darkness.
Father, strengthen your people to live in the light of your presence. Shine in and through us to this desperate and dark world. Praise be to you in us today!
