The first vehicle I bought brand new was a very basic Toyota truck. I took very good car of it. I would even use high octane gasoline. It was expensive, but, I got better milage, needed to tune it less often and it ran stronger (quicker and faster) than on that regular stuff. Putting in the good stuff spiritually produces good spiritual fruit.
"We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor promoted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ." I Thessalonians 1:3
Faith, hope and love are the high octane fuels of our Christian faith. You might call them the main ingredients of the good soil we need to grow as Christians.
We work, as Christians, by faith that God rewards us when we diligently seek him. What are you "working at" as a Christian? Remember, whatever you do, do it as unto the Lord.
We labor, as Christians, because Christ first loved us. May God grant us eyes to see others as he sees them (and us). The eyes of Christ who sees people he died for. Imagine coming to Christ with your sins and he says, pointing to a scare on his shoulder, "That was for you." Now, who do you know who needs to hear about that love?
We endure, as Christians, inspired by the hope we have in our Lord Jesus Christ. Our hope, as the hymn says, is "built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness. I dare not trust the sweetest frame but wholly lean on Jesus' Name."
May your faith, love and hope strengthen you today.
Father, thank you for your love toward us. Strengthen our faith, love and hope to bear the fruit of righteousness. Praise be to you in us today!
