Sometimes, it is not easy to tell the truth. Mainly because you know people may not want to hear it. Here's the deal. We need to make sure we get rid of things that mess up our relationship with God. No getting around it. Paul exhorts us,
"Since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness our of reverence for God." II Corinthians 7:1
The promises are that God is our Father and we are His sons and daughters. We get to come to Him as His children. "Dad, I have a problem..." We can say that to God! That is the payoff for seeking to purify ourselves and perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.
Father, help us to be holy as You are holy. Teach us to reverently follow You. Thank you that it is You that makes us holy (Hebrews 2:11).
