Light and Momentary Troubles

Do not lose heart. David told himself, "Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him."

"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."
II Corinthians 4:16-18

Outwardly we just keep getting older. Inwardly we are being renewed day by day. We trust more in Christ and less in ourselves. We will experience troubles. But, Paul, who was beaten, shipwrecked and whipped, considered these troubles light and momentary. The purpose, the fruit of these troubles is eternal glory and that outweighs whatever hardships we now experience. Living with that kind of attitude is not normal (at least not for me). That is why we fix our eyes on the unseen, the eternal. Jesus Christ, the Author and finisher of our souls. He is faithful and He will do it!

Lord, it is so easy to be overwhelmed by the trials and struggles we encounter. Open our eyes to see You in the midst of battles. Thank you that the Truth is that You will achieve eternal glory in us. Praise be to You!!!
