Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”
Genesis 4:6-7 NIV
Rule your desires or they will rule you. Like Cain who had a choice with what he would do with his anger, we also have a choice with what we will do with our anger, our desires.
Paul instructs us in Galatians 5: 16, "So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh." In Christ, in the Spirit, you rule your desires. You and I trust that God will deal with everyone and every situation and circumstance. He will provide. He will judge. He will avenge. You and I, we are to love. Love covers over a multitude of sins. Love is what disciples do.
Thank you, Lord, that you have overcome this world and in you, we also overcome this world. Help us to rule our desires and by faith choose to love. Praise be to you in us today!
