1 Timothy 6:11-12 NIV
Recently I saw a commercial for a video game where someone yells, "Fight!" and people just start running to go see it. Then the scene shifts to the middle of town as one of the combatants strikes the decisive blow and everyone winces and groans, "OOHHHH!" It's kind of like we all need some cause to believe in and fight for. Paul tells Timothy to fight the good fight.
Our fight is the pursuit of righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. Think about the battle we are in even now. Here in the United States the politically correct crowd wants to intimidate people of faith into changing their beliefs to fit into modern politically correct dogma. If you believe what the Bible says about gender issues, sex, and marriage you (according to the PC crowd) are a bigot and living with morals from the dark ages.
I am not fighting for a political cause, I am fighting to stand in and for the truth held in the Scriptures. That is the good fight, that is the right fight.
